Progress. Opportunities. Development.
The POD is a learning space where students who find their English or Maths lessons too challenging due to gaps in their educational journey, work in a supportive environment to help bridge the educational gaps and progress. This is a safe space for students to build, social skills, improve their literacy, numeracy and develop their confidence.

          The Pod Curriculum Intent

To embed and promote appropriately challenged academic rigour, positive student well-being, confidence, independence and communication skills throughout the curriculum.

A curriculum with an enhanced SMEH focus. This includes stage appropriate Maths and English alongside dedicated time for therapies and additional PSHCE.

POD Students will follow a tailored, more targeted academic pathway bespoke to the individual where appropriate. Students will access a broad & balanced curriculum alongside their year group in practical lessons to develop and support their social and emotional well-being. National Curriculum will be followed at the stage appropriate for their learning.

The curriculum at KS4 and 5 will focus on gaining a Maths and English certificate, employability experience, life skills and appropriate optional qualifications for this group of students. The pace and content of the curriculum is modified and bespoke in line with students individual learning needs.
