At Adelaide Heath Academy, we embark on many adventures. Our excursions are both tailored to the curriculum and the interests of the students. Ranging from local trips to the park to enriching residential visits, every trip allows students the chance to explore, learn and experience new things in a supportive environment. Learning away from the familiar classroom environment is motivating, exciting, and stimulating and the benefits are immense.

Every year we take the primary students on a two-night residential to Barnstondale. Residential learning experiences provide opportunities and benefits that cannot be achieved in any other educational environment. Barnstondale has developed a vast range of activity programmes that fulfil all parts of the school curriculum from Physical Education to learning about the environment around us. Students are provided with the opportunity to go abseiling, wall-climbing, orienteering, archery and to target range. This is a unique opportunity for staff and students to build and reinforce positive relationships and have fun together. Most importantly, students increase their independence, resilience, confidence and are taken out of their comfort zone.

This has proven to be a highlight of the school year and all our students look forward in taking part.
