The Physical Education Curriculum at Adelaide Heath Academy focuses on “skill development”, increasing confidence as well as promoting a “positive mental wellbeing”. Transferrable fine and gross motor skills are refined to allow students to succeed in everyday life as well as in a sporting capacity. Confidence is heightened through the implementation of progressive activities which allow students of all abilities to experience success. Positive mental wellbeing is developed through focusing on the importance of adopting a lifelong participation ethos.

In KS2, students have 2 sessions of PE that develop their hand eye co-ordination through a range of different mediums including, Tennis, Badminton, Cricket, Rounders, Basketball, Rugby, Dodge Ball and Base/Soft Ball. However, the intent is on the mastery of the skill rather than the mastery of the sport. Students will develop whole body movement phrases within Speed, Agility & Quickness that will provide the foundation for lifelong participation as well as providing a base for every day fitness.

We offer swimming to all primary students once a week for a whole term. During these sessions students will gain water confidence, stroke development and personal survival linked to the National Curriculum.
